About Travis

Travis Brorsen is one of the most sought after dog trainers in America today. Travis is Founder and CEO of Greatest American Dog Trainers, and is the host of Animal Planet’s My Big Fat Pet Makeover. Travis is also the expert judge on the new Discovery+ show, Puppy Bowl Presents: The Dog Games, streaming now!

Growing up on a farm and ranch in Oklahoma exposed Travis to a love for animals of all types and sizes. After college he made the decision to move to Los Angeles to pursue a career in entertainment instead of following his plans to go into agriculture. He appeared in more than 20 national commercials and guest starred in several hit shows such as Desperate Housewives, JAG, Bones, Drop Dead Diva and many others.

In 2008, Travis and his 14-month old, highly energetic and untrained boxer, Presley, were selected as contestants for CBS’ national dog training competition, Greatest American Dog. While producers (and Vegas) gave the duo little chance of advancing past the first week, Travis and Presley pushed themselves to their limits and after 12 weeks of grueling competition, beat the odds and won the entire competition. The prize of $250,000, is the highest prize money awarded to a dog and their human.

As a result of the show, Travis discovered his passion for helping dogs and their owners create a similar positive learning experience that builds relationship. He spent the next five years pouring into his highly successful dog training business in Los Angeles. Travis also created “Adventures with Travis & Presley”, an early childhood education program focusing on bully preventing and character education. He has partnered with Frog Street Press in Grapevine, TX to share it with America. It is currently used in thousands of elementary schools across the United States. Travis was nominated for TV’s Best Dynamic Duo for the Fox Reality Awards and honored with the Humanitarian of the Year at the New York Pet Fashion Show in 2018.

Travis has appeared on TV and radio shows such as Rachael Ray, Fox and Friends, National Geographic’s Brain Games, E! and others. He has been featured in The New York Post, The New York Times, InTouch, People, US Magazine, Variety, Prevention.com and Hamptons Pet Magazine. He has contributed to many magazines and websites such as Good Housekeeping, Dogster Magazine, Dogington Post, New York METRO, Life and Dog Magazine, Boxers Magazine, Star, Hollywood Life and Cooking Lite Magazine.

In 2012, Travis moved to New York City to marry his sweetheart, broadway singer Heather Hawkins and founded Greatest American Dog Trainers. Travis and Heather recently returned to their home state of Oklahoma where they live with their son Bleu and boxer Pete and continue to work on the business, developing products, traveling for speaking engagements and serving their community.
